I have spent the last twelve years living in eastern Iowa. I moved to Iowa City in January of 1996, and then I moved to Cedar Rapids in 2003. My wife, Nancy, has spent her entire life in the Cedar Rapids area. She graduated from Marion High School, she attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, and she has worked for the last 10 years for McLeod USA (now called Paetec). In 2005, Nancy and I built our house in Marion, and our daughter, Gracie, was born at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on September 22, 2006. The Alumni Relations Committee of the Alumni Association Council is pleased to recognize Audrey "Bunny" Howard Swanson '43 for her outstanding volunteer work on behalf of the College.
Audrey Howard Swanson, known as "Bunny" since her father coined the nickname for her when she wore a romper featuring a bunny with big floppy ears, was bubbling with enthusiasm when I spoke with her just days after returning from her 65th Reunion at Grinnell.
Bunny has attended many Grinnell reunions, but for this special occasion, she arrived early to continue planning and to enjoy time on campus. She was sad that four classmates had to cancel in the final week, but she was still pleased that 13 were in attendance. "Not bad for 87-year-olds!" she says....Read more
